Information we collect

We collect:

• Account information — your name, email address and login credentials.
• Chat content you upload — the WhatsApp conversation exports you choose to upload, and the personas created from them.
• Avatars and images you choose to add to a persona.
• Payment information — handled by our payment processor; we do not store your full card details.
• Technical data — IP address, browser type, and basic usage data, used for security and to keep the service working.
• Cookies — see the Cookies section below.

How we use your information

We use your information to create and run your personas, provide and improve the service, process your subscription, keep your account secure, respond to support requests, and meet our legal obligations. We do not sell your personal data.

AI processing of your chat content

Who we share your data with

We share data only with the providers needed to run the service — our hosting provider, our payment processor, and our AI provider — and only as far as necessary. If you request a password reset, your IP address may be included in the reset email. We may also disclose information where required by law.

Cookies

When you log in we set cookies to keep you signed in and remember your display choices. Login cookies typically last two days (two weeks if you choose “Remember Me”); preference cookies last up to a year. These are removed when you log out. We also set a temporary cookie at login to check your browser accepts cookies; it holds no personal data.

How long we keep your data

We keep your account and persona data for as long as your account is active. You can delete a persona at any time, and you can ask us to close your account and erase your personal data, except where we are required to keep certain records for legal, security or administrative reasons.

Data security

Your personas are private to your account — only you (and, where strictly necessary, our administrators) can access them. We apply reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data, though no online service can be guaranteed completely secure.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export or erase the personal data we hold about you, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise any of these, email support@legacychatrepublic.com. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

Children

Legacy Chat Republic is intended for adults aged 18 and over. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.

International transfers & changes

Your data may be processed in countries outside your own, including by our AI and hosting providers. We may update this policy from time to time; the “last updated” date above shows when it last changed.

2. Terms of Service

By using Legacy Chat Republic you agree to these terms. Please read them carefully.

The service

Legacy Chat Republic lets you create AI personas from chat history and converse with them in a familiar messaging interface. A persona is a respectful recreation built from the messages you provide. It is not the real person and should not be treated as such.

Eligibility & your account

You must be at least 18 to use the service. You are responsible for your account, for keeping your login details secure, and for all activity under your account.

Your content & acceptable use

You keep ownership of the chats and content you upload. You grant us the limited licence needed to store and process that content to provide the service (including AI processing as described in the Privacy Policy). You agree that you:

• have the right to upload the chat content you provide;
• will not use the service to impersonate someone in order to deceive, defraud or harm others;
• will not upload unlawful content or use the service for any unlawful purpose;
• will respect the privacy and rights of the people who appear in your chats.

The nature of recreations

Subscriptions, billing & cancellation

Membership starts with a 10-day free trial. After the trial it is $10 per month and renews automatically each month until cancelled. You can cancel any time from your account; cancellation stops future renewals, and access continues until the end of your current paid period. Unless required by law, payments already made are non-refundable.

Intellectual property

The Legacy Chat Republic platform, branding and software are owned by us and may not be copied or reused without permission. This does not affect your ownership of the content you upload.

Disclaimers & limitation of liability

The service is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, and our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

Termination

You may stop using the service and close your account at any time. We may suspend or end access if these terms are breached or where necessary to protect the service or other users.

Governing law & contact

These terms are governed by the laws of England & Wales, and the courts of England & Wales have exclusive jurisdiction. We may update these terms from time to time; continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms. Questions? Email support@legacychatrepublic.com.
